freemasonry means something different to each individual
For some it’s the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, an opportunity to develop and expand a social life for both the member and his family.
Some join because they love the traditions and want to learn more about our 300 year history. For others, it’s the chance to get involved in an organisation that makes a considerable contribution to society
The more formal answer is that Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations. It does not discriminate on grounds of race, colour, religion, political views or social or economic standing. And its principles are based on kindness, honesty, fairness, tolerance and integrity.
The final, most succinct and universal response is, that for all its member’s, Freemasonry is, quite simply enjoyable
